GATGA Delhi Welcomes 25 New Certified Members in 2026
The Government Approved Tourist Guide Association of Delhi is proud to announce the induction of 25 newly licensed Regional Level Tourist Guides (RLTGs) into full GATGA membership. These guides have successfully cleared the Ministry of Tourism's rigorous written and oral examinations, demonstrating mastery of Indian history, culture, heritage, geography and at least one foreign language.
Who Are the New Members?
The 2026 batch represents one of the most linguistically diverse cohorts in GATGA Delhi's history. Among the 25 new members, the following languages are now represented for the first time:
- Mongolian — reflecting growing visitors from Mongolia drawn to India's Buddhist heritage sites.
- Persian/Farsi — enabling guides to serve Iranian tourists with a deep connection to Mughal India.
- Swahili — serving East African visitors for whom India holds both historical and spiritual significance.
- Turkish — accommodating Turkish tourists interested in Islamic heritage sites across Delhi and Agra.
The remaining new members have been licensed in English, French, German, Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin), Japanese and Russian.
The Path to a RLTG Licence
Becoming a Ministry of Tourism-certified Regional Level Tourist Guide takes most candidates two to three years of dedicated preparation. Candidates must pass a comprehensive written examination covering Indian history from the Indus Valley Civilisation to Independence, then pass an oral examination in their chosen foreign language. The pass rate is historically between 25% and 35%.
"Every new member who joins GATGA Delhi has proven themselves under conditions that most people would find daunting. We welcome them not just as colleagues, but as the next generation of India's cultural ambassadors." — Mr. Vipin Bhardwaj, President, GATGA Delhi
